* (Ironic because it's a classification, yet not ironic because it's not wholly rigid, therefore actually ironic. Nuclear fission ceases under the command of English logic.)
At each stage, truth bolsters presence, in that enough elements of truth exist to appear to justify misguided/dangerous conclusions.
Stage First, Narrative People were once savage, and have been ruled by absolute monarchs in the past. Pioneers eventually escaped these tyrants, spreading out across a world governed by animalistic beasts (sic) and gradually improving and perfecting their societies toward the establishment of workable democracies, where the diffusion of power to elected representatives prevented whimsical mob rule. The writings of these great philosophers, though largely incomprehensible except to specially trained masters of crafts--who should be somewhat respected as long as they confine their studies to the past, where they belong--are part of a cultural tradition belonging to those who have developed the apex of representative democracy and freedom in the United States of America. The greatest masculine minds of the world fled the previously-greatest civilization, were punished, and revolted to achieve freedom. They then assimilated the finest of all other peoples into a melting pot of the best possible place (with the exception of the America of the future, when America's natural greatness makes things even better for everyone).
Yet, something is wrong with the world. Backward peoples still exist, identifiable by their resistance to America's freedom and guiding light. They represent the animalistic past that America has risen above, and their ignorance is a threat to all. Additionally, some of America's allies have become weak and feminine. While not wholly problematic, they have failed to follow America's lead, failed to be democratic enough, failed to be free enough, and most importantly, failed to purge dangerous elements from their own societies.
America has occasionally made mistakes, but far less than anyone else. America also has some domestic enemies, who try to gain attention and power for themselves by pointing out these mistakes. These enemies also blunder in failing to realize that any omelet will result in broken eggs, and that America, because it tries not to break eggs when it doesn't have to, is actually nicer and better than any other human society.
Stage First, Supporting Facts Bad things have indeed happened in the past. Many American founding fathers did quote Grecian/Roman philosophers. The United Kingdom was then (and is now!), personified, an utter and violent jerk (much like its abused stepchild would become), and America did rebel against it. Because of its greater degree of social freedoms, some evil turns against it. Many Americans also act charitably when they don't have to.
Stage First Politics Tends conservative; tends Republican. The above is, essentially, the "Fox News" narrative.
Stage Second Narrative People were once savage, and have been ruled by absolute monarchs in the past. Pioneers eventually escaped these tyrants, spreading out across a world governed by animalistic beasts (sic) and gradually improving their societies toward the establishment of workable democracies, where the diffusion of power to elected representatives prevented whimsical, inefficient and unrealistic mob rule. The writings of these great philosophers, in tandem with modern western study of all other cultures on Earth, and the diverse contributions of Americans of all types and colors, has helped create in America a mixed, diverse society with numerous flaws that are, for the most part, being strenuously addressed.
Yet, something is wrong with the world. Backward peoples still exist, identifiable by their clannish attitudes, lack of respect for advanced institutional education, and failure to balance the needs of modern industry with decent industrial mandates to protect our sustained progress.
Stage Second, Supporting Facts Many Americans have clannish attitudes, and America has provided educational opportunities to many. America makes some mistakes due to some of its population of frothing troglodytes, but eventually, those people will be educated out of it, and America is at least trying.
Stage Second Politics Tends Democrat.
Stage Third Narrative People once lived in harmony with nature, though they occasionally made mistakes, the worst of which was establishing authoritarian "state" societies, an economic system that elevated a small caste above others--capitalism--and allowing male-centered structures to repress females. This Axis of Evil--capitalism, patriarchy and nation-state--has spawned the growth of damaging industry and repressive culture. If more and more people become informed about the world, they will realize these great injustices, equalize men and women to eliminate the patriarchal power structure, impose livable standards upon capitalism and nation-states to make them more collegial and provide for the basic needs of all.
Yet, something is wrong with the world. It's hard to reach people, because they are (1) patriarchal lunatics, who have been repressed and abused into exercising sad play authority over the few people they themselves have the power to directly abuse, and also, by and large, (2) held in thrall by a group of extremely powerful elites. These supranational people have concentrated obscene amounts of wealth in very few hands, using war and media to control culture. They maliciously manipulate the fate of nations to lavishly enjoy the fruits of the world, driven by greed and selfishness to improve their lot while callously harming anyone who stands in their path.
Stage Third, Supporting Facts A small coterie of inbred richies exercises nigh-total control over the nations and people of the world. Dissent and information transfer is directly repressed or cleverly manipulated so as to be almost wholly ineffectual in altering this use of power.
Stage Third Politics Tends resigned Democrat or token anarchist.
